Abstract:

How much of your sleep, sanity, and hair did you lose today? If you think that loss is the price of life, it's time to think again.

We see our lives through our expectations, and generally those expectations are both too high and too low. We expect to be able to accomplish more, better, faster, yet we typically expect that our capabilities to do this are insufficient. The result of this self-contradictory self-view is the restrictive, exhausting sense we loosely call stress.

Stress is the sense that our options, our available internal resources, are too limited. Ubiquitous, discomforting comments express our resignation to the stressful way of life: "What are you gonna do?" "Wouldn't you know it?" and "It was bound to happen."

Yet we need not resign ourselves to fatalism. Murphy's Law can be repealed. Stress is illusory, and we have it within us to control it, and our lives. This powerful, inspirational workshop shows how. Through fun, humor, unique insights, and transformative exercises, we show how to keep a light heart in a heavy world. We show how simple shifts in thinking and perspective can help you accomplish more and keep your cool, your hair, and your peace of mind.
