Shifting Your LocusFocus TM
From WorkLife to LifeWork

Abstract:

Don't you just hate it when people ask what you do for a living and then turn up their noses as they calculate your salary, significance, and value accordingly? Yet millions of us still judge ourselves in exactly that way.

Rather than letting our job and salary define who we are, why not have who we are define our job and self-worth? This is a profoundly important difference. It shifts the focus and the locus of control. (Compare the exasperated "You won't believe what they did today!" to the ebullient "You won't believe what we did today!") It goes to the heart of our reason for working.

Authorized by and developed from the work of Richard Bolles, best-selling author of What Color is Your Parachute?, LocusFocusTM examines the most internal aspects of work and our place in the workplace. Through a series of exercises, it reveals the skills and talents that most inspire us; it reconnects us to our true passion, and to the heart of our calling. It teaches that the power to recharge our batteries surges within all of us. It also gives us the tools and the insight to guide and encourage others to shape a path toward work that can truly fulfill their nature and calling.
